Faith Family Early Learning: Statement of Philosophy

December 2025

We believe that every child is created by God with unique purpose and potential. Our philosophy is built on the foundation of Family, knowing that children thrive when they feel a deep sense of acceptance and belonging.

We are a community built on Faith and Christian values, working alongside Faith Family Church to serve our local community in Taree.

FAMILY & HEALTHY COMMUNITY

We partner with parents, who are the child's first and most important teachers.

We acknowledge families as the experts in their children's lives and encourage a mutual relationship of collaboration. We believe in "doing life Together," relying on open, respectful communication to create a positive connection between the home and the learning environment.

This partnership is the "Mesosystem" of our service (Bronfenbrenner), a bridge where we celebrate each family's uniqueness and openly invite engagement. We trust that by working together, we ensure everyone feels valued and every child feels secure.

WELCOMING DIVERSITY

We open our arms wide to welcome your coming and support your exploration. (Circle of Security)

We are a place that welcomes the incredible mosaic of perspectives each person's heritage brings. We uphold the dignity and rights of every child, ensuring they feel significant and respected. This respect extends to the land we learn on; we acknowledge the Biripi people (Taree). We endeavour to embed authentic Indigenous perspectives by listening to and learning from our local Aboriginal community, ensuring our program is culturally safe and respectful.

SERVING & KINDNESS

We lead with a heart of serving, championing every child's needs above our own.

Our educators view their role as one of service, guided by the Circle of Security. We strive to be the "bigger, stronger, wiser, and kind" adult who provides a secure base for exploration and a safe haven for emotional support.

We practice genuine kindness in all our interactions, understanding that all behaviour has meaning and is a form of communication. We seek to understand the needs behind the children’s behaviour, ensuring that we address the behaviour while validating the child. By modelling this kindness and respect, we create a positive example for the children to mirror in their own relationships.

GROWTH & GENEROSITY

We live with a spirit of generosity, providing abundant opportunities for play and learning.

We are committed to nurturing a holistic learning community, growing: socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Our approach to learning is grounded in Vygotsky’s Social-Constructivism, where we view learning as a social process enhanced through rich language and conversation. Our educators actively scaffold learning, guiding children to new levels of understanding.

Our Generosity is reflected in our environment and routines:

  • Nature Pedagogy: We use our outdoor spaces as the "third teacher," encouraging messy and child led play that allows children to connect physically with the natural environment. We teach children to be faithful stewards of God's creation, embedding sustainable practices into our daily lives.

  • Montessori & Autonomy: We intentionally build children’s independence by providing opportunities for choice, decision-making, and exploration within everyday routines. We recognise every child as a capable, confident, and competent learner.

  • Playwork Principles: We value child-led play, creating space for appropriate risk while ensuring educators are present to support children through any challenges that arise, including helping them resolve conflicts constructively.

ACCOUNTABILITY & SAFETY

We hold ourselves to a high standard, doing life together with authenticity.

We recognise that learning is a lifelong journey, and our educators demonstrate accountability by continually growing through training, reflection, and collaboration. This commitment strengthens a high-quality program grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We uphold the Child Safe Standards by creating environments where children are listened to, respected, and protected. Safety is central to every decision we make.

In all we do, we aim to be a place of love, security, and growth, where children can joyfully explore the richness of the world God created for them.
